Get your project details in order as best you can! What is your budget? When are you looking to film? Do you need any motion graphics? Animations? Where is it going (web vs. broadcast).
Examples are always super helpful, and a clear timeline is helpful to everyone! For example, when you plan to choose a vendor, when you want to film, and when you need everything finished by, the sooner this is expressed, the better, and everyone can comfortably stay on the same page.
Absolutely! You paid for it, right?
Yes! We’re not picky about that (but many companies will charge for this)
Video is one of the best ways to quickly attract potential clients, customers, or whoever you’re trying to reach. Ask any marketing professional, videos are the strongest format in marketing and creating conversions by a mile.
There is no clear rule when it comes to producing animated videos. However, as an animated video production company, we ensure our clients receive the best possible video length for their objective and chosen platform. Ideally, your animated video should be short.
The majority of video animations sit between 10 and 90 seconds long. If you need an animated video for an ad, this can be under 10 seconds long. Short format videos are growing in popularity in 2024. If you need an animated video explainer, it is likely to be around 60 seconds or longer.
Our team of experts will work closely with each client to understand the purpose behind each animated video project and ensure we can provide you with the right video length. Depending on your needs, we may suggest producing more than one animated video to cater to different length requirements without losing valuable content.

As corporate video makers, our video production process for a corporate video project always starts with pre–production. We identify the goals and target audience – for B2B videos, this may include investors, customers, or partners. We write a script that conveys our key messages and think about how we can communicate them effectively.
Next, we move on to production, where we actually shoot and record the video footage. This is where we bring our vision to life and capture the visuals and audio that will help us connect with our audience.
Finally, we enter the post – production phase, where we edit, add visual effects, grade, and mix the audio to finalize the video. By the end of this process, we have a powerful corporate video that effectively communicates our message to our target audience.
Each project is unique but at Sparkhouse we have spent the last 15 years creating and refining a process that is proven to assure we create the the best possible videos catered to your needs. You can learn more about our process here: The Malaika Media Process

The old writer’s rule of thumb – ‘a story should be as long as it needs to be’ seems to be outdated as dealing with modern social media channels that nurture audience expectations around duration,
reward and amplify videos of particular lengths, and even outright limit or punish those videos that are too short or long.
Content achieves three different purposes: Awareness, Consideration, and Conversion. Consideration and Awareness content is most powerful when it is under 60 seconds,
while Conversion content can be longer, from 2 minutes to 10 minutes in duration.
Where you post your video has an impact on how long it should be In order to have the best chance of resonating with your audience on that platform.
By using AI technology, animators are able to spend more time on the creative side of storytelling, such as character design, and less time dealing with tedious tasks. This allows them to express their creativity more freely while still bringing vibrancy and depth to whatever story they are trying to tell.
AI has the potential to completely overhaul animation production by taking over tasks like motion tracking, background painting, rigging of characters and in-betweening. This will ultimately result in faster as well as more effective animations overall.
AI has the power to completely revolutionize the animation industry, and despite this great potential, animators’ knowledge and experience are still necessary components. Thus, AI will certainly have a major influence on what lies ahead for animation, but it is clear that animators play an important role in all of this.
Animators need to hone their creative vision and style, as AI can automate some of the tasks that are part of animation. This does not diminish the essential role human creativity plays in delivering works with artistic flair.
As an animated studio and video production company, we aim to produce all animated projects, including voiceover and subtitles, within 6 to 8 weeks.
2D character story animation is a highly popular choice for explainer videos due to its simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and versatility. It excels at simplifying complex ideas, engaging audiences emotionally through relatable characters, and delivering clear and memorable messages. Its budget-friendly nature and shorter production times make it an ideal option for businesses and organisations seeking high-quality explainer videos without extensive investments. Additionally, 2D animation’s universal appeal and accessibility across various devices ensure that the message reaches a broad and diverse audience effectively.
There are many reasons why animated videos for business are so popular. But the first and more obvious reason for adding an animated video to your communication portfolio is engagement. Videos are one of the preferred types of media and they are more digestible than other digital formats. As such, with animated video production services, businesses are more likely to capture their audience’s attention and share their content in a memorable and effective way.
Animated videos present a huge advantage for digital scalability. As they can be tailored to your unique brand, they immediately establish your unique identity. They can be easily customised to suit different platforms and audience languages, making them the perfect communication tool.
Animation is highly adaptable and can be tailored to suit different industries and target audiences. For instance, while 2D explainer animation may be perfect for a simplyfying complex tech software a corporate presentation video may benefit more from sleek motion graphics. Animation allows businesses to customise the visual style, tone, and messaging to resonate with their specific audience’s preferences and expectations. This versatility ensures that the animated content aligns with the brand’s identity and the audience’s interests.
The creative possibilities offered by combining footage with animation in video production are immense. This hybrid approach allows our editors to add animated elements to real-world scenarios, enhancing storytelling and visual appeal. It creates a seamless blend between the physical and digital realms, making the content more relatable and engaging. For instance, real footage personalities can interact with animated characters or objects, adding charm and uniqueness to the video. This creative fusion opens doors to innovative storytelling and visually striking explainer videos that resonate with viewers.

Documentary photography has long served as both a creative art form and a way to raise awareness about important issues. So, rather than achieving an aesthetic product or goal, its most important aspect is that it tells stories with intention and empathy.
Documentary photographers help raise awareness of people, animals, and environmental issues by capturing natural events and giving them a voice and a place. These images should engage their viewers and, at the very least, inspire them to make a change.
If you want to work in documentary photography, you should first identify the causes, people, and situations that most interest you. Which causes excite you the most? What story or event do you think deserves more attention or action? This should help you decide what to study.
The documentary photography vs. photojournalism debate has floated around photography circles for many years. If you’re a photographer with a goal to tell stories through the art of photography, both photojournalism and documentary photography might be of interest to you. But while both of these genres are closely connected and share several similarities, each one encompasses different elements and goals.
Some of the key differences between each genre include:
1. Pace of Work
Photojournalists work at a much faster pace than documentary photographers. Photographers share their photos on social media, websites, and news outlets within days (or even hours) of shooting. Photojournalists have long shared their subjects live, in order to keep their work as current as possible.
Documentary photography is a much more complex form of storytelling. This type of photographer can take weeks, months, or even years to complete a project. Because documentary photography’s goal is usually to raise awareness about a subject, thorough research and investigation can take time.
2. Approach to Storytelling
Given that the objectives of each style are different, both photojournalists and documentary photographers are likely to give their work a much different approach to storytelling.
Because photojournalists work quickly, they focus on capturing an event objectively rather than turning it into a full-length feature. A photojournalist’s photos often tell a story about a person, place, or event on their own.
In documentary photography, a photographer’s photos are used to tell a story. To achieve this, photos are often shot in series or as part of a larger project.
3. Communication with Subjects
Because documentary photography emphasizes storytelling, photographers can spend more time with their subjects and develop deeper relationships. Documentary photographers often have more interaction with the subjects they photograph.
Photojournalists, on the other hand, must work quickly. While they do have time to talk to their subjects, their interactions are likely to be much shorter than those of documentary photographers.
Some fundamental things to consider to capture good documentary-style photographs,
1. Interacting With People Before Shooting
Interacting with subjects before shooting is always the best way to get the best results in documentary photography. This doesn’t mean you need to interview them; simply approaching and talking to them beforehand will help you build rapport and create impactful images.
Spending several days in your subjects’ location allows you to understand their situation and culture better. So you can better understand their surroundings and capture your desired subject.
2. Capturing Scenes Naturally
Authentic and captivating photos are taken when scenes are captured naturally. To achieve this, you should approach each shoot with an open mind, ready to anticipate moments, and keep your camera ready at all times. This means bringing context to each moment without staging, rather than taking creative control of scenes.
3. Shooting the Small Details
To capture the details that best accompany your story and focus, photograph your subjects in the range that best suits them and capture the details of them.
To evoke emotions in the viewer, a close-up photograph of someone’s face, wrinkles, and lines may be used. A wider lens or a closer shot may be required to capture a person’s behaviour in a specific setting.
4. Using the Right Style and Device
While any camera can capture documentary-style images, it’s important to consider the scope of your project and create a kit of cameras and lenses that will help you achieve your desired look. This will allow you to capture shots from different angles and perspectives. Make sure you know how to adjust shutter speed, exposure, and ISO to match the scene’s motion and/or lighting.
Documentary photography is a style of photography that provides an accurate representation of people, places, objects and events.
Jewellery can be worn in a headshot, but it’s important to choose pieces that complement rather than detract from the focus on the subject. Simple and classic jewellery is typically preferred.
The number of outfits you should bring to your headshot session depends on the photographer’s policies, your package inclusions and the intended use of the photos. Typically, 2 or so outfits are recommended to provide variety and options for different styles or looks. Or simply a photo with a jacket on and one without a jacket.
We offer headshot printing as an additional service. This may include high-quality prints on premium paper, or we also frame and place ypur photos on boards
You can use your phone to take a headshot, but the quality of the photo will not be very good. And the equipment used is only a part of the story. It is the knowledge that goes along with it to make a great photo of you that will further your career.
Common mistakes to avoid in headshots include wearing distracting clothing, overdoing hair and makeup, using low-quality or outdated equipment, and neglecting to convey a sense of approachability and professionalism in the shot.
You should update your headshot as often as necessary to keep it current and representative of your current appearance. This could mean updating it every year or every two years, depending on the industry or purpose of the headshot.
Changing hair style, or changing companies will mean changing your headshot.
A professional photographer who specializes in headshots should take your headshot. They have the necessary equipment, expertise, and experience to capture the best possible shot.
You should talk to us about the location of your headshot, we recommend in a well-lit area, or we bring appropriate lighting, with a neutral background that won’t detract from the focus on you, your eyes and face. An office with good lighting, outdoor locations with soft natural light are for environmental portraits.
A good headshot should be a clear representation of yourself that showcases your personality and professionalism. It should have good lighting, sharp focus, and a clean background. Your facial expression should be natural and engaging, and your clothing and hair should be neat and appropriate for the purpose of the headshot.

Telemedicine
With live streaming, medical institutions and hospitals can provide support to health-care professionals during surgery or help them remotely diagnose patients. Additionally, doctors can conduct laparoscopies and endoscopies with high-definition cameras.
Corporate Communications
Live streaming at enterprises supports and enables numerous business activities: marketing and sales, corporate communications, training, learning. You can also hold meetings through live video and record them for future reference, as well as create a knowledge base of the recorded content for training seminars.
On top of that, live video can function as follows:
Serve as part of a marketing campaign for promoting products or services.
Share public announcements or communicate with customers.
Act as a conduit for responding to customer questions in real time, gathering information and feedback during live chats, or conducting surveys.
Video-on-Demand Streaming
Viewers can leverage video on demand (VOD) to access content at their own time and pace. Since VOD is prerecorded, it allows for more editing and production efforts than live-streamed content, delivering a more professional and polished aura.
For the best of both worlds, you can use live-streaming content in a VOD model, i.e., record live streams and upload it later for consumer access.
To learn how to efficiently and optimally redistribute live video, see our blog post Preparing Live Streams for Video on Demand.
Government Messaging
To comply with legal requirements, facilitate transparency, and engage with their community, government agencies often need to communicate directly with citizens on plans, policy changes, and the like. New York City, for example, has mandated that local governments stream public hearings and council meetings.
During those forums, attendees can submit questions through live chats or Q&As and receive answers on the fly from the officials who are in attendance.
Public Safety and Law Enforcement
Live streaming is a crucial component of occupational, public-safety, and military operations. For example, drones help coastguards and rangers scout vast or inaccessible areas, eliciting real-time responses during search-and-rescue missions. Police officers also surveil and search for fleeing criminals with drones.
Live webcasts are a handy replacement of in-person sessions for law-enforcement training. Moreover, agencies can address other departments or staff through live chats and Q&As while running the session.
Live-Stream Shopping
Live-stream shopping translates to a smooth, efficient, and convenient shopping experience. When deployed on social networks or in a brand’s direct-to-consumer channel, live-stream shopping can be quickly embraced by consumers.
Live-streaming videos serve viewers real-time content during filming, transmitting the footage through streaming devices that are linked to the internet. Eliminating latency in video files, which are inherently large, requires dedicated protocols to avoid latency, such as Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC), HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), and Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP).
Live streaming is intended to assist individuals participate in events and experiences (such as conferences) that they cannot attend in person. Organizations and businesses employ live streaming to connect with their audience.
To effectively utilize live streaming on platforms like YouTube, follow these steps:
1. Open the YouTube app on your phone or tablet.
2.. Log into your YouTube channel.
3. Tap the Create button at the bottom.
4. Follow the steps to create a live stream.
5. Tap Go live.
6. To end your stream, tap Finish.
Note: It may take up to 24 hours to enable live streaming for the first time on YouTube. Once enabled, you can live stream instantly.
Live streaming involves the steps below.
1. Capture the video and audio.
Film the footage along with the audio with a camera and other equipment, such as a microphone and lighting gear. You can live-stream by yourself or collaborate with a streaming expert.
In both cases, link the camera up to the computer through a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) or high-definition serial digital interface (HD-SDI) connector to facilitate content transfers to your audience.
2. Compress and encode the video.
Compress the segmented data and then encode it with a live-streaming encoder, which converts video content into various forms. The compression process focuses on the areas that differ from frame to frame, for example, the way individuals move their mouths, but you need not render all the frames of the stream.
The encoding process converts the data into a digital format that many devices can interpret, with H.264, H.265, VP9, and AV1 being the popular standards. After encoding, a digital version of the video becomes available for transmission via the internet. You can, for example, embed or stream the video live from your website.
3. Divide the video into segments.
Videos feature a load of information, including characters and metadata that are readable by technology but not by humans. Segmentation—that is, creating smaller bits of digital information—ensures that the software can correctly process the data.
4. Distribute and cache the content through a content delivery network (CDN).
Steps 1-3 take only seconds. This step delivers the video to anyone who desires to watch it. To ensure optimal quality with low latency coupled with availability to viewers in various locations, turn to a CDN, a distributed network of servers that deliver and cache content on behalf of the original server. Employing a CDN leads to better performance because, instead of being processed by the original server, viewer requests are managed by a close-by CDN server, minimizing the workload of the original server.
CDN servers are located all around the world. By leveraging CDNs for delivery, you can relay content to viewers worldwide.
A CDN can also cache (save temporarily) all the segments of the live stream, leading to viewers receiving the stream from a CDN cache instead of the original server. Because of the savings in round-trip time (RTT) from and to the original server, even though the cached data lags a few seconds behind, delivery of live streams through a CDN is almost real time.
5. Decode and play back the video.
A CDN dispatches the live stream to viewers, whose device accepts, decodes, and decompresses the now-segmented video data. Lastly, a media player from the browser or a dedicated application in the viewer’s device interprets the data as visual content and plays it.
You transmit live video on a live-streaming platform, which is either of the following:
Most live-streaming platforms accept and broadcast video
Yes, You can record a live-stream video session.
If you use a professional video conferencing company like Malaika Media, you can absolutely live stream and record simultaneously. Live streaming and recording functionality are built right into the video conferencing platform, which is a huge benefit for customers.
Streaming is the technical term for broadcasting video on the internet. Live streaming broadcasts that video in real-time as it’s being filmed, instead of scripting and pre-recording the event. Today you can watch live streaming on social media websites, such as Facebook and YouTube, as well as on other websites, such as news websites, video gamer websites, etc.
A link will be provided that will carry the live stream. The same link will be used after the service to enable your friends and family to watch the service if they weren’t able to do so live.
Yes we bring our own internet
Yes it can be watched on mobile phone, computer, laptop and tablet
The simple answer to this question is, “no, there is no limit.” A live stream can be viewed by one to twenty-thousand people and does not affect the quality of the viewing.
There are no wrong answers to this question. Some platforms do have drawbacks, but the correct response is answered by asking the question, “Where is your audience?” If most of your subscribers are on Facebook, zoom, X then that is most likely the platform to use for your event. Likewise, with Youtube or embedded videos on your own website. Our experts at Malaika Media, can offer many customized solutions according to your needs.

Video training is a course designed to help you hone your filmmaking skills in creating social media videos for your business. The course covers set-up, pre-production, production and then post-production. When you’re done you should be able to create your own short videos for posting on social media. All our video training is delivered on a one-to-one basis or in a small group of three from the same organisation.
Video has never been as important in digital marketing as it has been today. More and more businesses are using video to promote their brand, and whilst high end corporate video should be something to be left to a professional video production company, many companies would like to create snippets for social media. Quick, simple and easy to produce videos that will leave a lasting impact on your audience. Of course, to produce these videos you need the know-how to do so.
It’s important to have this training so you are prepared to produce the best video you possibly can. Whilst on paper, taking out your phone and filming yourself sounds easy enough, but in order to really grab your audience, you need to create something with more production value and detail.
You just need to bring your smartphone or tablet or a digital camera device you plan to create your videos with. The course is designed for you to work with no equipment other than a device and an app. We will of course provide recommendations should you wish to buy kit at a later stage but this course is about working well with the basics.
This course is for anyone who wants to create their own social media video content. This includes anyone in marketing, sales, comms and PR. If social media video production is something you seek to pursue, this course is for you. It’s for anyone you work with who handles or is part of your in house content creation.
The video training course will cover a lot of information and technical skills you’ll need to create your own social media video production content. The course will go over the three main parts of any filmmaking:
Pre-Production. This will cover all the work you need to do before shooting. This will include going over equipment and set-up, and also your scripting and storyboarding if you need it.
Production will cover everything you need to know in producing the film. How exactly you shoot, how you should go about composing your shot and the techniques needed in directing your focus.
Post-Production will go over the editing process. Looking at the best software and apps to use, and all the techniques to created a well edited video. It will also cover how to market your finished product the best.
Unlike most other video training courses, our course takes place in our on site studio. We believe taking participants out of their normal working environment is key to establishing a different atmosphere and creating a real media experience. All our training is delivered on a one-to-one basis or in small groups of up to 6 delegates. The small group size and individual training means candidates have more time for practical sessions with our video trainer, with less distractions from larger group sizes.
Booking is simple. Just give us a call on +256782751690 with your availability and we can team you up with our masterclass expert to pick a suitable date. Payment is due 7 days before the start of the course. Cancellations require up to 48 hours notice.

Yes – Our pilots hold a license
We do not fly in high winds and rain. We can fly in winds gusting up to 35km/hr. Our advanced camera gimbal system gives very smooth shots in winds of up to about 24 km/hr.
Our drones are capable of flying in light rain but rainwater on the camera lenses can spoil any shots.
We monitor the weather forecast 5 days in advance of any shoot. If the signs are not good we talk to the client 48 hours prior to the shoot.
If we both decide to stay with the day and we have bad weather, our pilots will wait on site as long as possible in the hope of a break in the weather.
If we have to re-schedule a date because of weather the booking deposit is transferred to the new date.
Weather is known business risk in Uganda so we are as flexible as possible to ensure that bookings can be rearranged.
The maximum flight time on a single battery in normal conditions is upto 30 minutes. On average we fly up to 22 minutes before landing and changing the battery. We carry spare pre-charged batteries on each shoot. It only takes a few minutes to change the battery and get back in air. So we are able to fly all day with very little disruption.
Yes – We can fly indoors but we need space. We have flown in warehouses, studios and for safety we can install propeller guards for indoor flights.
Our drones are battery powered with electric motors so there is no worry about polluting the environment. The dynamics of flying indoors are different. The construction and materials in the building can affect how the drone UAV flies.
95% of the time there are no issues with flying indoors but safety is our number one priority. Only a short flight test can give us the final answer.
No – We only hire our drones along with our own skilled and qualified pilot.
Each of our UAV’s (unmanned aerial vehicles) are registered with the CAA and each pilot needs to be certified and licensed by the CAA.
This depends on the job. In most cases we send a single pilot to client sites. For a more complicated shoot we use two ground stations with a pilot and a separate camera operator.
Yes - We stream the aerial drone footage in real time to the pilot’s remote controller which allows the client on the ground to see what the aerial camera is capturing.
This lets us to adjust the camera pan, tilt, framing and drone flight path as we fly to get the best shots.
The maximum airspeed of our drones is over 75km/hr Our maximum range permitted by the CAA is 500m with the pilot maintaining a visible line of sight at all times to the UAV. Our maximum permitted altitude by the CAA is 400ft.
Our CAA approval clearly defines where and how we can fly.
The main operational conditions for a small unmanned aircraft SUA are:
• Maintaining a distance of 50m from people and property not in control of the pilot.
• During take off and landing maintain a distance of 30m from people and property not in control of the pilot.
• Permission of the landowner to take off and land.
• Directly overhead or within a minimum distance of 150m from an open air assembly of over 1000 people.
• Maximum height of 400ft above ground level.
• Maintain visual line of sight of the SUA to a maximum distance of 500m.
• During daylight hours, so that you can clearly see the SUA and take avoiding action from other air users if required.
• Outside of controlled airspace.
• Restrictions apply to certain areas of Central London and additional permissions to fly in these areas need to be sought from the CAA.
• Restrictions and rules apply to flying near an airport and aerodrome.
We can fly close to buildings and people when we have consent of the owner and the people in close proximity have been briefed and are under the control of the pilot.
This allows us to do close survey work of building, roofs, building sites, hotels and golf courses.
Our prices may vary depending on the complexity, associated risks and location of the drone aerial photography. Please call or email us to discuss your plans and requirements.
They get different aerial footage and results. Drones can fly closer to the subject, they are quieter, can be deployed quicker as weather and filming dictates, and they are a fraction of the cost of hiring a helicopter and pilot.
